When you have a roof replacement completed are you requesting all the necessary components be placed on your roof? In most areas of Colorado, it is a good idea (and a code requirement in many localities,) to have a row of ice and water shield installed along the eave of the house extending two feet inside the warm wall of the structure.
The property in this house has 2-foot soffits, thus requiring two rows of ice shield. That equals 6 lateral feet of ice shield. Many roofing contractors will skip the second row, pocketing the money, due to the inspector not being able to verify two full rows were installed. Bighorn Roofing and Exteriors LLC also installs ice shield in the valleys and around all penetrations through the roof deck.
When hiring a roofing contractor, hire the right contractor. Contractors are not all the same and a roof is not just a roof. Cheaper is not better when protecting your most valuable assets.
